Welcome to a series of posts dedicated to our wedding venue crushes aka the places we love the most for a destination wedding in Italy. Despite being from Tuscany and based in Tuscany, we want to start our venue crush series somewhere up north: the truly stunning Convento dell’Annunciata.
Convento dell’Annunciata
We first had the pleasure of photographing a destination wedding at the Convento in 2017 and we have been in love ever since. Dating back to 1455, the Convento served as an actual convent that was ran by Franciscan monks for centuries. Many illustrious personalities of the past would visit the convent and its church, located at a strategic waypoint between different – often rival – kingdoms of Northern Italy. The property has been passed down as inheritance since 1783 to the actual owners and is currently one of the most requested luxury wedding venues in Italy thanks to its rich history, luscious gardens, and unique architecture.
The famous tunnel of trees is the perfect spot for an imperial table or a romantic wedding photoshoot while the secret gardens are lovely private backdrops for family and couple portraits – here we used some purple smoke bombs to create an even more magical atmosphere, but Convento dell’Annunciata lends itself to many design concepts, from the minimal to the luxurious.

What we love the most about shooting destination weddings at Convento dell’Annunciata is the fact that this venue provides so many different views and corners, resulting in a beautifully diverse album for the newlyweds. Moreover, with such a big space there’s always a way to create a feeling of intimacy and exclusivity – which we believe should be at the heart of a luxury destination wedding in Italy.
